4000 paddlers join in Guangzhou dragon boat rivalry

Nearly 4,000 paddlers from 124 dragon teams took part in the 2019 Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament in Guangzhou on June 15.

The race was held on the Pearl River between the North Gate Square of Sun Yat-sen University and Guangzhou Bridge.

Originating as the Guangzhou Dragon Boat Race held in 1985, the international event was upgraded and renamed as the Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament in 1994. It has become one of the eight major dragon boat races in China.
