The China Import and Export Fair, China's largest trade fair, kicked off its 125th edition in Guangzhou on April 15 and 2,600 volunteers have been busy assisting at the Canton Fair Complex and surrounding areas.

The volunteers have been providing domestic and foreign merchants with services such as language translation, venue guidance, information consultation, traffic guidance, and simple medical care.

The volunteer service department of the 125th Canton Fair, which runs until May 5, has a total of 100 service posts and 175 volunteers are on duty every day.

In particular, this year's volunteers have an additional task to do compared to previous events, which is showcasing the unique charm of Cantonese culture for the merchants, which includes Cantonese cuisine, embroidery, and Guangzhou's most unique delicacy, rooster olives.

"I am a native of Foshan, Guangdong. I love Guangzhou and Cantonese culture. I am grateful to be a volunteer for the Canton Fair where I can showcase Cantonese culture to merchants from all over the world. I hope that the merchants will like Guangzhou," said A Dong, one of the volunteers.

This year's Canton Fair features a professional foreign language volunteer service team from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies who provide translation services in English, Hindi, Vietnamese, Spanish, German, and other languages.

Since the 100th Canton Fair in 2006, the volunteer service of the trade fair has been carried out for 25 years, with more than 70,000 volunteers serving a total of more than 280,000 hours.
