Nansha hosts Greater Bay Area cruise industry seminar

A seminar on boosting the development of the cruise industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held on March 7 in Nansha district, Guangzhou.

The meeting was organized by the Guangzhou port authority, Guangzhou's commerce bureau, and the Nansha municipal government. Attendees included experts from the tourism industry, company representatives, and representatives from the Pearl River Administration of Navigational Affairs of the Ministry of Transport, the Guangdong Transportation Department, customs and border inspection personnel, and maritime affairs representatives from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

At the seminar, representatives discussed how to promote the cruise industry in the Greater Bay Area, build a world-class tourism destination, enhance cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in cruise tourism, build a cruise tourism industrial chain, and develop more cruise products.

Dream Cruises, a cruise line owned by the world-famous Genting Hong Kong, recently released a new tour giving tourists a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Greater Bay Area in just one day.

According to information released at the seminar, in 2018, cruise ports in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao have hosted more than 2.5 million tourists. The cruise industry is considered to have favorable development conditions and promising market prospects in the Greater Bay Area.

Cruise tourism has become popular among tourists to Guangzhou and Nansha will continue to optimize policy support for the industry, build cruise tourism brands, and cooperate with surrounding cities to boost the development of the bay area's cruise tourism industry, according to Pan Yuzhang, director of the Nansha Development District management committee.
