Global talents in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) gathered in the city of Guangzhou on Oct 11 for the 2018 Canton Tower Science & Technology Conference, where they shared their insights on boosting the AI industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Under the theme of "GO！Build the World", this year's conference consisted of a main forum, 11 parallel forums, a closed door think tank meeting and an awards banquet. The industrialization of AI, trends in the industrial chain of information technology and smart terminals, and AI-related theories and policies were the main topics of the two-day conference. 

Zhu Dongfang, vice-president of IDG China, the organizer of the conference, delivered a speech at the event. Zhu noted that AI has become the core driving force in a new round of industrial transformation and a new engine of economic development. It is constantly stimulating new technologies, new products, new industries, new formats and new models, profoundly changing the human production mode and lifestyle and the global economic structure.

The annual Canton Tower Science & Technology Conference evolved from the Android World Global Developers Conference and has been held for six consecutive years. The event is deemed a weather vane of the global AI industry. This year's conference, an important platform for Guangzhou to thoroughly implement the national AI development strategy and boost the development of the IAB industries (referring to industries of next generation information technology, artificial intelligence and biological medicine), will accelerate the flow of high-end global AI resources to Guangzhou and help build the city into the world's leading new AI hot spot.
