FedEx launched a new route on Aug 13 connecting the Vietnam capital of Hanoi and its Asia Pacific transit hub in China's Guangzhou to enhance its import and export delivery services.

The new route will significantly cut the transit time of all inbound flights to Hanoi, enabling the US-based courier giant to complete delivery across Asia by the next day for the first time.

The route will use the Boeing 757 freighter, which will fly to and from Guangzhou and Hanoi four times a week. It takes only one business day for goods exported from Hanoi to reach China and major commercial centers in Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Goods shipped from Hanoi to the United States and Europe will be delivered within two business days. For all international shipments to Hanoi, the transit time will be reduced by one business day. Goods from Europe will arrive in Hanoi within two business days, while goods from North America will arrive within three business days.

Chen Jialiang, president of FedEx China, said the new route will further boost connections between Chinese and Vietnamese companies and promote trade development between them. He added that as Vietnam is an important partner in China's Belt and Road Initiative, their mutual trade and investment has been continuously strengthened over recent years. In 2017, the bilateral trade volume between the two reached close to $100 billion.

To meet changing market demands, FedEx continues to adjust its network and routes in the Asia Pacific region. In April, it launched a new route connecting the FedEx Asia Pacific Hub in Guangzhou and the FedEx Global Hub in Memphis. In January of this year, it opened its second international transshipment center in China at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport – the FedEx Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub.
