The 2018 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair (2018 CIEF), a platform for match-makings between technology companies and capital markets and promotion of industrializations of technological innovations, will be held in Guangzhou from June 22 to 24.

The news  was announced at a press conference held in Guangzhou on June 14. Attendants include Zhang Jianhua, vice secretary general of Guangzhou municipal government; Li Jiang, deputy inspector of Guangzhou science technology and innovation commission; Dai Xiaochun, secretary general of Guangzhou Association of Science and Technology and representatives from consulate-generals in Guangzhou.

Organized by China Association for Science and Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Guangdong provincial government and Guangdong municipal government, the fair will cover an area of 21,000 square meters and have more than 20 thematic exhibition halls. Over 1,000 innovative projects and 30 special activities including forums and road shows will be staged, focusing on IAB ((next generation of information technology, artificial intelligence and biological medicine) and NEM (new energy and materials) industries.

At the press conference, Zhang provided some basic information of the fair and said that the event will continue to be market-oriented, target technological transformation, offer all-dimensional services and bring together innovation and entrepreneurial elements such as scientific and technological achievements, technologies, capital, talents, and information at home and abroad to create a professional, market-oriented innovation and entrepreneurship platform.

Instead of following its practice of dividing the exhibition areas by region and profession, the 2018 CIEF changed the idea and will set up special exhibition areas and comprehensive exhibition areas. In addition to the exhibitions on AI, smart health, biomedicine, new-generation information technology, and auto technology innovation, the newly established military-civilian integration exhibition and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area exhibition areas fit the strategic layout of China's current development.

A total of 18 teams led by academicians will display some 22 models of their major scientific breakthroughs aiming to meet customer's needs and solve their pain points, and integrate technological innovation, business, and market requirements.

The academicians will participate in over 30 special events with more than 200 other speakers and more than 100 guests in the venture capital field. These special activities will closely concentrate on the development trend of global production and economy, and include in-depth discussions on current industrial reforms and technological breakthroughs. For example, the main forum "Future Science and Technology Summit" will focus on the latest developments in the fields of information technology, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, new materials, and new energy and explore the promotion of multi-integration of resources in companies, universities, research institutions and the government.
