Early in November last year, Genting Dream, a luxury vessel operated by Dream Cruises, embarked on its maiden voyage from Nansha Port. From Jan 1 to Aug 31, Genting Dream has sailed 60 voyages and carried 210,000 passengers, making Nansha port a leading port in China in terms of cruise tourism.

With a displacement of 151,300 tons, World Dream has 1,686 cabins and has an maximum occupancy of 3,400 passengers at a time. The luxury ship also offers great food, business facilities and a variety of entertainment.

World Dream offers two separate six-day routes, one stopping at Manila and Boracay in the Philippines, and the other docking in Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang in Vietnam.

Dream Cruises is run by Genting Hong Kong, a holding company which operates several cruise and resorts businesses. The company operates World Dream and fellow cruise ship Gentling Dream and aims to redefine travel and vacations in the area, according to a spokesperson.

Guangzhou's cruise industry has seen rapid development in recent years. In the first half of 2017, a total of 68 cruises have either set off or made their way to Nansha Port, with inbound and outbound passengers reaching 198,000, an increase of 20.7 percent compared with same time last year.
