The fifth Sino-Singapore Knowledge Forum is set to be held on Aug 22 in Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, a landmark project of Sino-Singapore strategic cooperation and an engine for Guangzhou's technology hub.

At the fourth Sino-Singapore Knowledge Forum held in December last year, the goal of building a global innovative resources center was put forward. Great importance was also attached to intellectual property which is the bridge and bond for scientific achievements to transform into real productivity.

Ever since, Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City has taken the application and protection of intellectual properties as its core mission. During the past eight months, the place has become home to the Guangzhou intellectual property arbitration court, the Patent Examination Cooperation Center of the Patent Office,the State Intellectual Property Office, Guangdong as well as several intellectual property trade institutions.

Early in July, the construction of GE bio-campus, which is planned as a leading biopharmaceutical and healthcare industrial park with investment reaching $800 million began at Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.

Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City has been continuously luring investments, talents and advanced bio-medical technologies to aggregate in Guangzhou. As of now, more than 600 enterprises in biological medicine industry and health industry have settled in Huangpu district and Guangzhou Development Zone, with operation revenue in 2016 reaching 52.3 billion yuan ($7.8 billion).

Apart from establishing a great atmosphere for knowledge industry development, the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City is also fully exploring "Singapore Elements" in terms of areas including community construction, talents training and preferential policies.
