The Guangzhou National Archives is a national first class archive, and one of the largest and most renowned archives in the nation with a rich collection.

The new Guangzhou National Archives integrates the functions of archive safe keeping, information transmission, display and exhibition, public service and patriotic education. The building is built with the consideration of preserving the archives while adapting to the needs of a modern archive to be culture-oriented, open and proactive.

The Guangzhou National Archives has put into full play the vigor of Guangzhou in this high tech age as a renowned city of history and culture, thus creating the magnificent new archives building with its unique structure, the latest achievement of the archives and the cultural resources development of Guangzhou.

Guangzhou National Archives boasts a collection of 1.27 million scrolls (volumes) of archives, including a rich and valuable variety of files from the Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, revolutionary and historical files, as well as files from after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The archive is an important witness of the historical development and socialist construction of Guangzhou.
